Of course we all want to look beautiful in those pictures for posterity. But feeding tubes?
The wedding section of the New York Times recently reported on brides who go to extremes to lose weight — typically 15 to 20 pounds — before their big day. The methods used sound dangerous — all-liquid diets for days, hormone injections, a feeding tube through the nose to limit calories to about half the norm.
You can call it the pre-wedding “hunger games.” The story never says what happens to the weight of these starving brides after the wedding. But the story offers some sensible advice at the end: “You can get to the same place if you started earlier,” a doctor noted, “instead of waiting until the last minute and doing something drastic.”
A green bride would eat vegetables!
